Parent taxa:             Genus / Family / Order / Superorder / Subclass / Class
Lepadella: Lepadellidae: Ploima: Pseudotrocha: Monogononta: Eurotatoria
Taxonomic / nomenclatural notes:
• not Lepadella acuminata (Ehrenberg) n.f. after Koste (1972) [Ref.17331] [=L. elongata Koste]; L. acuminata (Ehrenberg) after Wang (1961) [Ref.18125], Koste (1982:fig.13) [Ref.11762], De Smet (1990:fig.3) [Ref.17149] [=L. vandenbrandei Gillard]; L. acuminata (Ehrenberg) after Schmid-Araya (1993) [Ref.13140] [=L. cryphaea Harring?].
• Highly variable morphospecies that probably represents a complex of cryptic species with narrower geographic ranges and/or ecological tolerances.
• The superficial similarity of Lepadella acuminata (Ehrenberg) and L. cryphaea Harring probably accounts for a number of misidentifications.
