• not Synchaeta oblonga Ehrenberg after Hudson & Gosse (1886) [Ref.17291], (?) Rousselet (1902) [Ref.17504] [identity unclear]; Tessin (1890) [Ref.17603] [=Synchaeta tremula (Müller)?].
• The identity of the true S. oblonga long remained unclear. According to Hollowday (2002:159) [Ref.15748]), Rousselet's (1902) (op. cit.) Synchaeta oblonga probably concerns a different species: "Rousselet's description of S. oblonga, frequently referred to or copied by subsequent authors (e.g., Fig.13;4a in Shiel & Koste 1993) probably concerns a different, yet unidentified species. Although Rousselet mentions his species to be «common in freshwater ponds and lakes», there are no reliable subsequent records of material matching the description by Rousselet (1902)." The species has recently been revised by Wilke et al. (2018) [Ref.27369].
