Ecology summary:
Euplanktonic in freshwater ponds, small lakes, reservoirs, and occasionally in potamoplankton; in permanent and temporary water bodies; predominantly summer species in temperate climates (not cold stenothermic as opined by some authors), prefers eutrophic conditions and low calcium soft water (Jersabek & Bolortsetseg, 2010) [Ref.18457]. NB: Ecology and distribution pattern of T. cylindrica probably blurred by confusions with T. chattoni (De Beauchamp), to which (sub)tropical records of T. cylindrica may refer to (T. cylindrica chattoni after Koste, 1978) (Segers 2003) [Ref.15833]!
