Ecology summary:
Benthic and periphytic in freshwater lakes, ponds, pools, reservoirs, rivers, and stream backwaters; particularly in shallow, weedy waters, including paddy fields and riparian wetlands; rarely in peat bogs; warm stenothermic, tolerates low oxygen conditions, seems to prefer pH < 7 (Jersabek & Bolortsetseg, 2010) [Ref.18457].
