Aspelta: Dicranophoridae: Ploima: Pseudotrocha: Monogononta: Eurotatoria
Taxonomic / nomenclatural notes:
• ?not Aspelta aper (Harring) after ?Wulfert (1961) [Ref.17667] [=A. tilba Koste & Shiel?], Koste & Terlutter (2001) [Ref.15725] [=A. tilba Koste & Shiel].
• As De Smet (1997:102) [Ref.17163] points out "The trophi figured by Wulfert (1961) differ from the original description by their weak asymmetry, the left ramus with single lamella and small alula, and the simple, single-toothed right uncus". Koste & Terlutter's (op. cit.) record of A. aper from N-Germany is erroneously illustrated by the figure that was used in the original description of Aspelta tilba Koste & Shiel from Tasmania (Koste, W;R J Shiel (1987): Hydrobiologia, 147).
• Type designated by Harring (1913) [Ref.17236], but can not be found in the USNM collection (CDJ, Oct.2001).
