Parent taxa:             Genus / Family / Order / Superorder / Subclass / Class
Euchlanis: Euchlanidae: Ploima: Pseudotrocha: Monogononta: Eurotatoria
Taxonomic / nomenclatural notes:
• Type species of genus Euchlanis Ehrenberg, 1830.
• not Euchlanis dilatata Ehrenberg after Wesenberg-Lund (1899) [Ref.18255] [identity unclear]; Euchlanis dilatata var. after Carlin-Nilsson (1935) [Ref.17084] [=E. semicarinata Segers?].
• Highly variable morphospecies that probably represents a complex of cryptic species with narrower geographic ranges and/or ecological tolerances! Based on investigations of genetic differentiation among 62 populations across a broad area of North America, Kordbacheh et al. (2017) [Ref.27272] found seven putative cryptic species of E. dilatata in that area alone.
