• Type species of genera Floscularia Cuvier, 1798, and Melicerta Schrank, 1803 (the latter is an invalid synonym of the former).
• not Melicerta ringens (Linnæus) after Tatem (1868) [Ref.16455] [=Ptygura pilula (Cubitt), partim].
• Placed on the Official List of Specific Names in Zoology, ICZN Op. 522, available: ringens, Sabella, Linnæus, 1767, Systema Naturæ, Ed. 12, vol. 1, part 2, p. 1268 (specific name of the type species of Melicerta Schrank, 1803) (Rotifera).

Fixosessile in periphyton among submerged (filamentous algae, macrophytes, moss), semi-emerse (sedges, reed), and floating (water lilies) vegetation in stagnant and slow running, permanent and temporary freshwater; occasionally in athalassic oligosaline waters, bog ponds, paddy fields (Jersabek & Bolortsetseg, 2010) [Ref.18457].
