Lecane bulla (Gosse, 1851)
Valid Name:
There is no data to display.
Parent taxa:             Genus / Family / Order / Superorder / Subclass / Class
Lecane: Lecanidae: Ploima: Pseudotrocha: Monogononta: Eurotatoria
Taxonomic / nomenclatural notes:
• ?Monostyla lunaris (Ehrenberg) after Perty (1952, partim: pl.1,fig.4A,B), Weber (1898) [Ref.14111], Lecane lunaris (Ehrenberg) after Brandorff et al. (1982) [Ref.17056], Monostyla sp. after Varghese (2006) [Ref.18892].
not Monostyla bulla Gosse after Weber (1898) [Ref.14111] [unrecognizable].
• Polymorphic species with a number of sub- and infrasubspecific taxa of uncertain taxonomic status. Probably represents a complex of cryptic species with narrower geographic ranges and/or ecological tolerances (Walsh et al. (2009) [Ref.27160]).
• By analyzing sequences of the mitochondrial COI gene, García-Morales & Domínguez-Domínguez (2020) [Ref.27409] revealed high levels of cryptic diversity in the L. bulla complex, and suggested the existence of 13 cryptic species with this morphospecies.
