• Type designated by Harring (1913) [Ref.17236] can not be found in the USNM collection (CDJ, Oct.2001).
• Taxonomic status and ecological relevance unsatisfactorily resolved.

Benthic and periphytic in shallow weedy freshwater pools, ponds, lakes, reservoirs, and streams; also in peat bogs, paddy fields, riparian wetlands, and river floodplains; among submerged vegetation; eurythermic with preference for higher temperatures, acidophilic, but also found at circumneutral to slightly alkaline conditions, tolerates low oxygen concentrations (Jersabek & Bolortsetseg, 2010) [Ref.18457].
