Parent taxa:             Genus / Family / Order / Superorder / Subclass / Class
Testudinella: Testudinellidae: Flosculariaceae: Gnesiotrocha: Monogononta: Eurotatoria
Taxonomic / nomenclatural notes:
• Type species of genus Testudinella Bory de St. Vincent, 1826.
• Testudinella elliptica (Ehrenberg) after Jersabek et al. (2003 partim: ANSP Cat. Nrs. 26, 1828) [Ref.15798].
• Marine and brackish water species. As pointed out by De Smet (2009:13) [Ref.18445], freshwater records are probably misidentified T. elliptica. A record of Testudinella sp. sub clypeata (Müller) by Kutikova & Folian (1996) [Ref.18191] from brackish Issyk-Kul Lake requires clarification.
• Leasi et al. (2013) [Ref.18613] suggest that the morphospecies T. clypeata may represent a complex of at least 7 cryptic species.
