Taxonomic / nomenclatural notes: • ?not Aspelta lestes Harring & Myers after Donner (1954) [Ref.10453], Jersabek (1998) [Ref.14125].
• As pointed out by De Smet (1997) [Ref.17163] "the trophi figured by Donner (1954), differ from the original description by their more rounded outline, the longer right ramus, the bifurcate right uncus and the absence of manubrial knobs posteriorly". The same deviations were also seen in specimens from the Austrian Alps (Jersabek, 1998) [Ref.14125] and, less pronounced, from the French Pyrenees De Smet (1997) (op. cit.). The conspecificity of North American and European populations of A. lestes requires confirmation. |
