not Keratella tropica (Apstein) after Ahlstrom (1943 partim:pl.42,figs.11,13) [Ref.16986], Olivier (1965) (cit. in Modenutti et al. (1998) [Ref.17417]) [=Keratella morenoi Modenutti, Diéguez & Segers].
• Specimen material from Colombo Lake (May 1905), sent by Apstein to Rousselet and now deposited in the NHM London (NHM 1917.1.1.994; NHM 1935.4.27.344), probably represents syntypic material (no types have been designated in the original publication).
• Tausz et al. (op. cit.) [Ref.27365] figure a specimen as K. tropica (Fig. 1n) which lacks the typical quadrangular posterior field, a highly characteristic and morphologically stable, but sometimes difficult to observe character of that species. Whether they actually dealt with a monospine form of Keratella valga (Ehrenberg) or this was an observational error remains unclear.
